Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 3 completed the hike today, Feb 2007, seemed a lot longer than 6.2 miles. Some very strenous hikes up. But worth the trip. Hiking by the creek, was still chilly enough to have ice in the water.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 4 Nice hike. Not another soul on the hike, even for a holiday weekend. All uphill for about the first 3 miles. Two vastly different feels to the hike. First part was uphill, and then along the mountain ridge. Second half drops back into the creek valley and follows the creeks back to the start. Very enjoyable hike.

Overall rating: 3 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 3 Good out of the way location. Has a lot of evidence of sloppy camping within the first mile of the trailhead (rough fire pits, garbage, cans, shotgun holes, etc...) . Very nice climb up Dick's Ridge which had great views hinted as through the tree canopy which will provide a great view after the leaves fall. The valley area was quite dry even though a heavy rain had come through only the morning before my visit. Many good camping locations in the valley which is either 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 miles from the trailhead depending on which direction you travel the loop. The majority of the footpath is old road which results in a few long step grades. Evidence of pine beetle infestation management and a forest fire a few years back. Wildlife evidence on the trail, but nothing larger than a squirrel observed.
