Hiking trails in Fulton County, GA
At 0.1 miles the trail curves right and follows the outer flood plain of Big Creek on the left. To the right, above the trail but still visible are apartments. A path that rises to the sidewalk along Old Milton Parkway comes off to the right at 0.5 miles. A few steps past the side trail the greenway enters the tunnel it shares with Big Creek to pass under Old Milton Avenue.
South of the Old Milton Tunnel the Big Creek Greenway takes on a different appearence. It is in the flat and wide flood plain of Big Creek and continues to a bridge over a tributary at 0.8 miles. After crossing the stream Big Creek Greenway approaches the Northpoint Community Church Bridge, built by the church to help relieve area congestion before and after services. At 1.0 miles a path to the right leads up to church parking.
Nearby hills quickly surround the river and the greenway and form a river valley of sorts, with the hills on the left reaching some 100 feet above the Greenway. At 2.0 miles the path to Rock Mill Park comes off to the right and enters the park at 2.2 miles. The park is interpreted which makes it fun to visit with or without kids. Facilities are available within the park.
If you return to the YMCA the total hike is 4.4 miles
